Free Quilt Patterns

It’s easy to find free quilt patterns on the internet. You just have to know here to look. The main places are quilting blogs, groups and websites of fabric companies.

Quilting blogs sometime feature original patterns the blogger wants to share with the world. A perfect example of this is Bonnie Hunter’s blog – Quiltville. She blogs about all phases of her projects – from choosing her fabric and hashing out the design to piecing the fabric and playing with borders.

Another advantage to finding free quilt patterns through blogs is that you can see the quilt coming together step-by-step. It is hard to believe a simple 9-patch can look as lovely as the Disappearing 9-Patch Pattern makes it. Just reading the words is sometimes hard to get the feeling across.

Quilting groups not only supply each other with free quilt patterns, there are folks that will send out links to them so you will not have to search for them. Some good on-line groups to check out are housed over at yahoo groups.

If you have any fabric stash at all, you can not go wrong with the Yahoo Stashbusters Group. These ladies are serious about busting their stash. You will find scrappy, colorful patterns there that are easy to make.

If you fall in love with a group of fabrics by a particular fabric company, head over to the company’s web site. Many companies offer free patterns using their fabric groups in hopes to sell more of their product.

It is easy to find a quilt pattern that will suit your special purpose. After making enough of these, who knows? Perhaps you’ll want to distribute your own, unique quilt pattern for use by friends.
