Keepsake Quilting

Every quilt is a fabric expression of love. Think about it. You can get a cheaper blanket at Wal-mart that will probably be warmer. The purpose of a quilt is knowing that you picked out the pattern, the fabric and the backing especially for this one person. So, keepsake quilting is really every quilt that you put your heart into. But how can you make a quilt extra special?   Here are some tips depending on the occassion:High school Graduates

You can start keepsake quilting with the fabric itself. For the high school graduate going off to college, you could make a T-shirt quilt. A T-shirt quilt is made of t-shirts of all the organizations and sports that they were involved in during their high school years. It is cozy and a comfortable that will last longer than t-shirts that are prone to holes.

Remembrance Quilts

For a remembrance quilt, you might collect the clothes of someone who has passed away and create a quilt top of them. Every time you look at it, it could remind you of the person and how much they meant to you.

Anniversary Quilts

With the new technology, it is time for quilting to take advantage of it. You could transfer photos to fabric and use the fabric as a quilt block. This would be a perfect way to make an anniversary quilt. You could have pictures of the wedding, the birth of the first child and grandchild ending with a recent picture. The recipient would be sure to appreciate it.

Going Away Quilts

Keepsake quilting probably started with the signature quilt. In a signature quilt, each block contains the signature of a friend. This would be appropriate for someone moving away. Not only would your friend have a beautiful quilt, they would be reminded of your group every time she looked at it.

As you can see, there are many options when it comes to keepsake quilting. The main ingredient, however, is that it comes from the heart.
